Village Voice's Description

The utility of Zoma lies in its relatively cheap wine list and in its appealing and shareable vegetarian combo. The latter features a choice of four of the menu's seven flesh-free main courses deposited on injera, the sourdough pancakes made from the millet-like grain called tef. Buticha is the best of these, a yellowish mash of chickpeas and purple onions with the texture of cookie dough. Among non-vegetarian courses, check out doro wett-a piece of chicken and a boiled egg in thick red chile paste. The decor is museum-style, and eating is done with the fingers of your right hand.

One of the better Ethiopian restaurants in NYC

  • The combination platters are marvelously complex. The tej, an Ethiopian-style honey wine, is made by Brotherhood Winery in Washingtonville, N.Y., the oldest winery in the U.S. - Inspector

Veggie sampler is perfect for 2

They only take cash or AMEX, which is not convenient to find out when your bill comes.
