Description

Village Voice's Description

Without undergoing a renovation, the former 145 Luncheonette has revamped its menu to include the full range of desert delights from the Arabian Peninsula's southern end. Before, the menu was mainly limited to a single table dahote of rice, curried potatoes, and roast meat. Though roast lamb shank is still a highlight, you can now get salta (a bubbling meat-and-vegetable porridge with foamy fenugreek on top) and aseed (a giant doughy dumpling deposited in a lake of brown gravy). But the bargain dinners of chicken, lamb, or "Cajun fish" (!) still come with a cup of consommé and a salad.
