Village Voice's Description
Not surprisingly, Winebar is the classiest drinking spot along downtown's Second Avenue nightlife strip. They serve plenty of medium- to full-bodied wines, specializing in drinks that span the Mediterranean, with a focus on France, Italy, and Spain. As fancy-schmancy as this all sounds, the communal table setup inspires liveliness and conversation within the stark, black-and-red, wine-bottle-decorated interior. And if you're not a connoisseur, don't worry: The waitress has recommendations. As do we: Try Atalaya's Monastrell-Garnacha-Tinto-Tera from the Almansa region in Spain . . . if you can remember all that.
Tips from foursquare
Great date spot! Amazing wine and make sure you try the mushroom crostini!! Superb!!
Impressive wine list. Grab a table outside and people watch! They have a nice selection of things to nibble on like olives, cheeses, and flatbread pizzas for two.
The flat breads are excellent
Try the Ijalba Crianza. It's awesome.
Avoid! Service was sub par. Food was downright brutal. Wine was overpriced (nicer products from identical producers were cheaper elsewhere in the neighbororhood). DO NOT GO HERE. try terroir instead.
