Museum hours: Wednesday & Thursday 11am-6pm; Friday 1-9pm (6a9pm pay-what-you-wish admission); & Saturday-Sunday 11am-6pm

This museum is located on the Upper East Side just a block away from Central Park and fairly close to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The location has hosted a series of experimental and independent films and is a key collector of video art.

  • Get here fast because the museum is moving downtown to the Meatpacking District. Their new six-story, 195,000-square-foot building will be designed by Renzo Piano and cost $680 million.

  • Designed by Marcel Breuer, the Whitney Museum's current building opened in 1966. Jacqueline Kennedy attended the building on opening day.
