Village Voice's Description
Serving 750 labels of wine(!), the Vera Bar is the snug add-on to Frank, an Italian restaurant whose menu features Grandma's secret recipes and homemade pasta. The bar's look is that of an exquisitely curated vintage-furniture boutique: stained-glass portraits, exposed brick walls, and an ornate chandelier amid regal white, maroon, copper, and mahogany fixtures. Now, the drinks: though few in number, the beer choices are great, Ommengang's Rare Vos especially. To narrow down the extensive wine collection, go for the '99 Poggio l'Aiole Toscana Canaiolo, which conjures up the tastiest of buzzwords: "ruby red," "lingering berry-fruit perfume," and "velvety finish."
Tips from foursquare
This place is good for gettin drunk and dancin n stuff.
dance like a fiend. say goodbye to your friends as they decide it's time to go to bed. stay at the bar and keep dancing. repeat until 4am. hit deli next door for turkey wrap. successful night: done.
Upstairs is okay. Downstairs is nasty. Kind of a shithole.
Fun to get sloppy drunk, buy bad coke downstairs and dance to rock n roll, 10 years ago.. .
Go to Lit and ask someone if they have a side project they are working on
