Uncle Nick's Greek Cuisine
New York, NY 10001-4848
Village Voice's Description
Greek restaurants are always a safe bet when it comes to seafood, and Uncle Nickâs Greek Cuisine is no different. The second location of such a name--the first is found in Hellâs Kitchen--the Uncle Nickâs in Chelsea has particularly good octopus, which is charred to create a nice contrast to the usually rubbery texture. There are decent gyros, plenty of cheese and olives, and the service matches the blue, white, and candlelit decor in its typically Greek over-attentiveness. The vegetarian options, especially the mousaka, are pretty good, but it's really the extensive list of reasonably priced fish (red snapper, flounder, porgi, and swordfish, among many more) that makes this out-of-the-way spot worth the trek. --Shane Barnes
