Village Voice's Description

Bet you thought the burrowing animal with beady eyes-but, no, this is about "moe-lays," the pre-Colombian Mexican sauces laboriously made from dozens of ingredients. The recently expanded Del Valle in Hell's Kitchen makes all the usual green, brown, and red versions, and several rarely seen ones as well, including a soupy mole from the town in south Puebla where the owners originated: Tulcingo Del Valle.

Tips from foursquare

  • Village Voice on 08/24/10

Try Chicken Mole Enchiladas-homemade mole on a half-chicken, or on three chicken enchiladas ($11.50), along w/ achiote rice, refried beans topped w/ crumbly cheese, & a dab of sauce-style guacamole

  • Metromix on 07/15/10

This expanded Mexican deli has a large array of staple Mexican ingredients like refried beans, guacomole and fried pork. We like to sit back with their huevos rancheros and watch a telenovela.

  • Village Voice on 02/23/11

Try the cemitas-sandwiches on round seeded rolls traditionally made with cactus pulp but Sietsema's fave is milanesa res, a razor-thin beef cutlet similar to Texas chicken fried steak, only thinner.

  • Serious Eats on 04/20/13

Unassuming Hell's Kitchen deli and taqueria. Great chile relleno and cheap, tasty tacos and tortas here.

Cash only. Best Mexican in HK. Shrimp fajitas are my fav. Plenty of jumbo shrimp, I always replace rice and beans for salad which comes with nice slices of avacado. Yum.
