Description

Village Voice's Description

Only three sandwiches are available on the comically small menu: a Brooklyn-style Italian roast beef, gobbed with fresh mozzarella and brown gravy; a Philly-style roast beef hero laked with Cheez Whiz; and--odd man out--a modest pastrami sandwich piled with cole slaw on unseeded rye that also manages to be fantastic. Three sides are available, and they're nothing much compared to the fantastic sandwiches: mushy and underdone steak fries, mayo potato salad in which the mayo eclipses the spuds, and a macaroni salad--when was the last time you ate one of those?

Tips from foursquare

  • Time Out New York on 10/05/11

Try the gloriously sloppy That Way, creamy Lioni Latticini mozzarella & juicy gravy made from thickened pan drippings crown this roast beef sandwich. It’s one of our #100best dishes & drinks of 2011.

  • Thrillist on 08/26/10

This spot serves 2 iterations of their dope slow-cooked roast beef sando: the jus & Cheez Wiz "This Way", and the onions/gravy/fresh mozz "That Way".

  • nymag on 12/26/10

Brave the line for the dirigible-size This Way—a roast-beef classic made with mounds of succulent prime rib drenched in oceans of Cheez Whiz. Featured in Where to Eat 2011!

  • The roast-beef sandwiches come This Way (on a roll with au jus and Cheez Whiz, $5.50), That Way (with gravy and mozzarella, $8.50), or Something Else (Cheez Whiz, fries and mozzarella, $12.50).
