Village Voice's Description

Grab a lemon or chocolate ice ($1 for a small paper cup) and watch a bocce game. It's the perfect Queens-Italian day. The Lemon Ice King does not mess around with new-fangled flavors or any other innovations. Ice is it here, and the recipe for success hasn't changed over the generations.

Go to the Lemon Ice King of Corona and have a peanutbutter Italian ice, then walk over to the Queens Museum of Art and see the Panorama of the City of New York.

Have an ice (any flavor -- I like the tutti frutti) then sit in the park and watch the old guys play bocci. Do they still do that? It's been years.

Peanut butter is the best. Be adventurous. It's worth it.

  • Serious Eats on 06/10/13

Serving Italian water and cream ices for over 60 years. The lemon is peerless, but many fruit flavors excel. The peanut is especially peanutty and rich. Open during warm weather months.

Best ices in New York, no contest.
