Description

Village Voice's Description

The grisliest part of the Grisly Pear is Friday Night Karaoke, in which participants bomb and butcher '70s one-hit wonders to the cheers of a small but endlessly enthusiastic (and sublimely woozy) crowd. The Pear's exterior is nondescript (literally--there's not even a sign), a stark contrast to kitschy Cafe Wha? and falafel hub Mamoun's on the same street. Likewise, the bar is just as modest: cheap wooden interior, low ceilings, a couple of TVs, and $10 pitchers of beer to bolster the ego for another round of karaoke.
