That the Dead Rabbits were a mid-19th century gang of hooligans (Leo DiCaprio's posse in Gangs of New York, if you need a reference point) is no coincidence. This New York Irish-themed taproom and parlor evokes the glory of the Five Points splendidly. In fact you can often spot founder Sean Muldoon and bar manager Jack McGarry decked out in anachronistic suspenders and plaid. But the establishment is far from gimicky. It's craft cocktails and punches are made with real artistry, and are some of the city's most original recipes. Located in the lowest of lower Manhattan, the oldest and first-settled part of the city where all the train lines tap out before Brooklyn, it's a complementary addition to this historic district.

"Suspendered barkeeps ladle grog from festive punch bowls into proper teacups—perhaps the Punch à la Taylor, with whiskey, clementine sherbet, and tamarind nectar."
Damn good cocktails upstairs. Order a drink that comes in an antique porcelain cup (with built-in mustache guard) and feel transported to old Mannahatta.
I can have a pint and a Jager downstairs or a sublime cocktail upstairs and the love, attentive service and care is the same. Double win.
Staff is lovely, decor is terrifically turn-of-the-century NY and the cocktails are delicious. This place is much needed in the vast desert of mediocre bars/restaurants in FiDi.
Head upstairs to The Parlor for the mixology. Bartenders are super attentive. Hot drink? Archbishop. Absinthe? Julep à la Thomas. M-F 5-7pm $1 oysters and absinthe cocktails for L'Heure Verte.
