The Cellar at Beecher’s
New York, NY 10003
Village Voice's Description
Curd nerds rejoice! Beecher's, the Seattle-based cheese mecca, has set up shop in a massive 8,000-square-foot space in the Flatiron. The loungey downstairs level has been transformed into a dairy-friendly restaurant, with several types of fancy mac 'n' cheese, tomato-based soups, and caprese and Caesar salads available. Don't profess a love of mozzarella and Manchego? No worries--smaller bites like a great wax bean salad plus full entrées are available, too. An all-American wine list makes for fun tippling, as do the unique cocktails (try the Evelyn Nesbit).
Tips from foursquare
Try the meatballs, they're yummy!
Try this drinking game: take a sip every time the subway rumbles beneath the restaurant.
We love the happy hour here, since it features $5 specialty cocktails, $6 glasses of wine, AND $7 mac and cheese (enough for a meal!). Make sure to come early before the place fills up.
The Cellar is cozy and perfect for a glass of wine, a few nibblies, and good conversation. All the apps we had were good, and the worlds best Mac and cheese was definitely up there. Nice service, too.
was disappointed to see no cheese on the french onion soup :(
