The Blind Barber
New York, NY 10009
Village Voice's Description
The Blind Barber's entrance is through a classic-looking barber shop, though unlike other "secret" bars, the front for the operation is very much part of the business. You can, for example, do the $40 drink-with-a-haircut combo. The egg white, Jameson, and honey-syrup-based Sweeney Todd, for example, is available to imbibe while you're getting that new 'do. The lounge in the back is of the antique-speakeasy variety, with vintage photography, sepia-colored illumination, and mahogany fixtures filling the room. The patrons here tend to look and act just like the Blind Barber's barbers: tattooed, tight-clothed, sociable.

Aside from cutting hair & shaving, the Blind Barber has a full-service bar with beer, wine & cocktails including the house special Sweeney Todd (whiskey, egg white, honey syrup, lemon juice).
Old-fashioned barbershop meets vintage cocktail lounge at The Blind Barber, an East Village outpost promising hot shaves and a whole lot of hip people. Hint: try the "Sweeney Todd."
