Village Voice's Description

It came as a shock when this place closed soon after a Voice review, but now it's happily up and running again. This strictly vegetarian (and kosher, too) spot specializes in the cooking of the far-south Tamil Nadu state, which means all the usual dosas, iddlies, and utthapams, but with some strange twists. There are dosas with filling and unfilled, dosas pointy like brassieres, and dosas folded into triangles and oozing caramelized onions, convincing us of their French origins. Also unique are a chorus of rice-based dishes, gathered in a wonderful voluminous collection erroneously called "mini-meal."
