Description

Village Voice's Description

This venerable (two years old!) diamond district kosher Bukharan has hopped across the street to fancier digs, and the new place has a (gasp!) dining terrace overlooking the action on the street, maybe so the patrons can keep track of the comings and goings of their diamonds. The charcoal-grilled kebabs (pick lamb rib or ground-meat lula) are as good as ever, and so are the fries, but skip the new menu section-featuring sushi!? There's better in the immediate vicinity. Uzbek standards like plov, samsa, and lag.man still rock, but prices do seem to have gone up a dollar or two

Tips from foursquare

  • Josh S. on 04/15/10

Try an order of the Manty.

  • Doron G. on 02/11/14

Get there early they run out of shawarma sooner than you'd think

  • Matthew F. on 02/26/14

Dirty, weird and in a walk up building with no elevator. This place surprised me, I was expecting a much different experience. At the very least they could have a real menu. Really?

  • Paul S. on 10/30/13

The samsas transport you to the marketplaces of Uzbekistan, a transcendent treat

  • Abhi B. on 03/06/13

Littte bit expensive. But interesting food and choices
