Description

Village Voice's Description

Walk down the aisles filled chock-a-block with ramen, soba, rice crackers and countless varieties of miso, and arrive at the prepared foods section, where you'll find gigantic bento boxes, all for about $5. Each little compartment harbors a different treat. In a single bento box you might get a salmon fillet, brown rice, eggplant-shrimp salad, seaweed salad, gyoza and Japanese omelet. Avoid the tempura, which gets soggy. There are also a few prepared Korean foods, like pre-made pork bulgogi and banchan, Korean sides like kimchi and dried anchovies.

I like picking up affordable, sushi-grade fish here - the salmon is usually quite decent.

Bento boxes FTW! (they are located in the back of the first aisle)

Pretty sure they either get their sushi and ready made foods from Panya downstairs or the other way round...

A lot of interesting Japanese goods packed into a small space. Affordable bento boxes, strange and colorful sweets, ume plums, weird jelly cups, etc. Design enthusiasts will freak at the packaging.
