Village Voice's Description
The terrain of the dining room-three rooms, two levels-is a big plus at this Slope bistro, another is the fries, which resemble those from McDonald's back when they were good. They come in a humongous heap with the steak sandwich, a sort of ramped-up Philly cheesesteak with superior ingredients and oodles of caramelized onions. The pork chop, too, is prodigious, especially when preceded by the pepper-dusted octopus appetizer. But skip the unimpressive frisée aux lardons salad.
Tips from foursquare
Go early for brunch and have the hangtown fry - fried oysters w/eggs! Sounds odd but is delish + they run out of it all the time.
The Hangtown Fry consists of eggs, Vermont cheddar, bacon and tempura-fried oysters. That's right. Oysters. Breakfast re-imagined. Recognize.
Excellent brunch and dessert. I love their salads for lunch- especially the ones that involve bacon
No bloody mary's before noon on Sundays. Booooo
anytime you see scallops on the menu, get em! they make em great there. plus, dress warm, it's always a bit chilly in the dining room. great staff.
