Village Voice's Description

Slainte, the Scottish equivalent to the word "cheers," is just as welcoming as the name suggests. On a block of high-end restaurants, hotels, and cocktail lounges, the bar sticks out as the sole hyper-casual, hyper-energized spot to watch the English Premier and down one of the spot's 40+ brews. If you're stumped, give Ommegang's ale-and-cherry-lambic fusion Three Philosophers a try. The room itself is an update on the usual pub look, favoring a streamlined, gimmick-free interior, but with all the necessary conventions. Bangers and mash, for example, have not been excluded from the menu.

Tips from foursquare

  • BBC AMERICA on 01/25/11

6 Nations Rugby Championship will be shown here. During the World Cup, a few BBCA staffers watched matches with friends at Foursquare at this pub. Kitchen opens at noon.

  • WillMcD on 05/16/11

Great place to watch soccer matches. Big screen in the back

I had my birthday party here and they were very accommodating to reserve space and attentive waitresses for no charge. Plenty of space set aside from an otherwise crowded bar.

  • The Corcoran Group on 07/24/13

Not only a great authentic Irish pub, but they serve up some of the best mac and cheese around!

If you're in NYC, hit up Slainte on the Bowery and order the mac and cheese (w/tomato and bacon!)
