Village Voice's Description

The anchor of a Malaysian mini-neighborhood centering on Allen and Canal, Skyway is named after a tram that climbs to the glitzy Genting resort, the "city of entertainment." Noodle soup asam laksa is a tart and hot tour de force, and don't miss "house special pork with yam," an accordion of thick-sliced pork belly alternating with creamy taro slabs in a thin dark gravy. For high rollers, there are whole fish presentations featuring stingray and red snapper, and a marvelous hacked-up lobster with dried-shrimp sauce, but this is also a place where you can dine well for very little money.

Tips from foursquare

Love the $3.75 lunch special from 11am-5pm... Rice or noodles comes with a soup!

  • Kevin C. on 09/13/10

Savory dishes here are just okay, but the shaved ice dessert is the best in Chinatown!

  • Daniel L on 04/15/11

The staff is super friendly. Go for the spicy spicy noodle soups.
