Village Voice's Description
Established singer-songwriters and heartfelt hopefuls strut their stuff (well, as much as singer-songwriters strut) in scheduled shows and open-mic nights at this East Village stalwart. In addition to a steady roster of young acts, the divey Sidewalk is known for its cheap food menu, unusual 24-hour-a-day schedule, and the rows of tables and chairs lined up outside the building--where, during the summer, the post-work crowd downs frozen pink margaritas and cheap beer while watching Avenue A traffic drift by.
Tips from foursquare
On Monday nights, The Sidewalk Cafe hosts NYC's most prestigious Open Mic Night where folks like Jeff Buckley and Beck got their start.
Go to their next wizard rock concert or any concert where someone who you've never heard if is playing. Make sure to go during happy hour.
The walls sure could use a good sandin' but them handholds are varnished quite nice.
$20 all you can drink brunch :)
Best burgers in NYC or maybe anywhere. Hands down.
