Village Voice's Description
Walk among the factories and warehouses in this region of Bushwick, past more than a few ancient breweries, and feel like you're in the late 19th century. Smell smoke, and go through a badly marked and unprepossessing door, and you're in one of Brooklyn's best restaurants - a wood burning pizza spot that supplements a simple list of pies using premium ingredients with killer daily specials. From those specials we especially dug the bruschetti of lardo and ramps, and a deceptively simple dish of perfectly grilled asparagus garnished with pecorino and ham. Stupendous! In true Naples style, the crusty and mellow personal-size pizzas are prefect in every way. And it's BYOB!
Tips from foursquare
Here's what happens when hipster chefs get it right. Market-driven goodness and go-to pizzas. Check out the Heritage Radio Network, which broadcasts from the dining room on Sundays. [Eater 38 Member]
Pizzas are nicely singed. Also good: arugula with bresaola, pickled pig’s tongue, mackerel with lemon jelly, wood-roasted chicken, wood-roasted Berkshire pork chop.
The rooftop garden of this funky spot produces tomatoes, brussels sprouts, peppers, carrots, and heirloom lettuce—much of which finds its way onto brick-oven pizzas and other Italian-inspired dishes.
Vogue food writer Jeffrey Steingarten raved to us about the cuttlefish - "tender and crisp — I don't think I’ve ever had cuttlefish like that" - in his New York Diet.
The atmosphere alone here is great, but the pizza is killer, too. My favorite is the Cortes, but just go with whatever calls to you. And the nonpizza food options are insanely delicious.
