Description

Village Voice's Description

This low-key café serving expert coffee by Ninth Street Espresso transforms into a classic French seafood bar in the evening, with great cocktails and a two-for-on on oysters during happy hour. Prima offers comfortable communal seating, with tall, spindly chairs set around eight marble-topped tables. French chef David Malbequi excels at simply cooked fish, along with a small menu of dishes like steamed mussels in a broth of cream and roughly chopped parsley, or poached octopus salad in a spiced vinaigrette. For dessert, go with his rendition of the classic mille feuille, crisp pastry and cold vanilla-scented cream.

This neighborhood noshery plates without pause from 8a 'til close. Come at night for great seafood and cocktails like the Mancini, a mix of bourbon, amaro, smoked cinnamon, and old fashioned bitters.

    Butternut squash soup FTW!

  • Maxwell Z. on 03/28/12

Most under the radar spot in the East Village. Great for doing work during the day and having dinner at night.

  • Noah W. on 11/16/11

Meaty grilled octopus lathered in olive oil, preserved lemons, fennel, and tossed with fresh feta.

  • Nina Y. on 02/12/12

Under-the-radar spot during the daytime with good coffee and free wifi
