Village Voice's Description

Playwrights Horizons was founded in 1971 with the specific mission of developing contemporary American playwrights. Part of the Theater Row revival, it is located just behind Port Authority Bus Terminal and accessible by numerous subway lines at 42nd Street station. The conglomerate features two theaters and concessions in the lobby. All shows are either a world, United States, or New York premiere. The theater also hosts a new works laboratory and a theater school in association with NYU's Tisch School for the Arts. In 2008 it was honored with Drama Desk Award for ongoing support of new theater artists.
