Merchant's Description

This pier, the largest in Hudson River Park, has a footprint of over 14 acres. Pier 40 is the home to the Hudson River Park Trust's offices and is the starting point for the historic Greenwich Village walking tour. It's also where the Trust operates the hugely popular sports fields. Various park tenants host activities here too.

A walk on the south side of Pier 40 will lead to the finger pier. This semi-enclosed area juts out into the Hudson and affords views of the Statue of Liberty. Fishing is a very popular pastime here. Several public programs operate from the south side of Pier 40 courtesy of our Park Partners like Downtown Boathouse , New York Kayak Company , Pier Park and Playground and Village Community Boathouse.

You can also take a cruise with Hornblower. Also offering public programs from Pier 40: are The River Project and the Trapeze School NY
