Pete's Candy Store
Brooklyn, NY 11211
Village Voice's Description
Between the spacious outdoor garden, free live music, and Wednesday night trivia nights reminiscent of Grandma's house, Pete's has something for everyone in Williamsburg. The tattooed bartending staff is generally friendly, and wallets sigh with relief at the easy prices for such specialty cocktails as the Pomegranate Margarita. The warm, wooden interior expands into a long, narrow room, where bands play an old-fashioned stage to mellow crowds. The outdoor area, never lacking for seats and glowing year round with Christmas lights, endears Pete's to local smokers.
Tips from foursquare
Formerly an actual candy store, this is a great place to hang out, grab a beer, and see a band. It’s hot, though, so dress light! – Piotr S.
At the weekly Quizz-Off (Wed 7:30pm), teams battle through six rounds of questions with hopes of scoring a bar tab (first place $75, second $40, third $15).
Check out the front bar for drinks, the train car like theater for shows and the quiet outdoor space for relaxation. It’s small, so get there early.
Sandwiches are great! Go for it.
