Village Voice's Description
As you could probably tell by its name, this West Village café focuses on using local, organic produce in its light Mediterranean fare. One thing this restaurant doesn't feature is a lot of space; a long marble-inlaid bar takes up the middle of the dining room, surrounded by a row of small tables with bright blue chairs. Exposed brick, hardwood floors and the pressed-tin ceiling add a homey touch. The menu is casual Italian, with pastas like a rigatoni with grass-fed meatballs, homemade tagliatelle with organic pesto and shrimp, and whole wheat lasagna with zucchini, grape tomatoes and eggplant. Entrees include a free-range, organic chicken Milanesa and locally produced sausage with broccoli rabe. Casual dishes like bruschetta, Panini and pizzas topped with ingredients like baby arugula and truffle oil are good for enjoying at the bar with a bottle of one of the many organic wines.âKeith Wagstaff
Tips from foursquare
Another delicious spot using local and fresh ingredients to create a lovely menu. We recommend the Positano Panini or the Bianca pizza. Check your bill before leaving, the tip is usually included.
