Description

Village Voice's Description

This corporate-ish chain gym has nine locations across the lower half of Manhattan. While that might be a turn-off to alt-fitness aficionado, when it comes down to it, what that means is a surplus of equipment, convenience, and too many classes per day to make excuses about missing. Pools, basketball and racquetball courts, and rock walls are some of the facilities included with membership. There's also nutrition planning, massage, and personal training among other extra services. For the squeezing-it-in-after-work sect, it's gets the job done.

Merchant's Description

New York Health & Racquet Club’s 56th Street location was recently renovated in 2012 and features a stylishly retro look without a retro feel. Conveniently situated near adjacent offices and apartment buildings, this club boasts new tile floors, showers and gorgeous lighting that enhances the overall décor, particularly in the pool area.

Great six-level gym with a pool below the first floor. Small basketball court upstairs where I work on post game and mid-range jumpshots.

NYHRC has many great classes! We tried Kangoo and had a blast. Before drinks with friends why not sweat together first?
