Description

Village Voice's Description

This corporate-ish chain gym has nine locations across the lower half of Manhattan. While that might be a turn-off to alt-fitness aficionado, when it comes down to it, what that means is a surplus of equipment, convenience, and too many classes per day to make excuses about missing. Pools, basketball and racquetball courts, and rock walls are some of the facilities included with membership. There's also nutrition planning, massage, and personal training among other extra services. For the squeezing-it-in-after-work sect, it's gets the job done.

Merchant's Description

Conveniently located a block from Grand Central Station, New York Health & Racquet Club’s 45th Street location offers members the intimate feel of a neighborhood club with all the benefits that a midtown club can offer. This club offers one of our largest pools, and includes such amenities as a lounge area and a co-ed eucalyptus room where stress relief is but a breath away.

The steam rooms are tiled and the saunas are designed in the classic Finnish style, with wooden benches and walls. Members can request a spray bottle of eucalyptus for added respiratory cleansing.

Who wants to watch the FOOD network when working out...it makes me want to leave the gym and head to Chipotle

The pool and sauna room are amazing and so is the staff.

This location's television stations on the cardio machines are very limited. Just food network, CNBC & a sports channel
