Description

Village Voice's Description

This corporate-ish chain gym has nine locations across the lower half of Manhattan. While that might be a turn-off to alt-fitness aficionado, when it comes down to it, what that means is a surplus of equipment, convenience, and too many classes per day to make excuses about missing. Pools, basketball and racquetball courts, and rock walls are some of the facilities included with membership. There's also nutrition planning, massage, and personal training among other extra services. For the squeezing-it-in-after-work sect, it's gets the job done.

Merchant's Description

New York Health & Racquet Club’s 13th Street location is an intimate club with a real neighborhood vibe. You will feel at home in a setting that makes the most of its multi-floor space. You will find equipment and amenities strategically laid out on each floor.

Awesome place. The staff is the real gem here. Dont take them for granted!

This place Rock! You never have to wait, it's quiet, plenty of free weights.

  • Kurtis P. on 06/08/10

This is by far the dirtiest of the locations I've been to in NYC. If you're in the area, go to Copper Sq or 21st & Park. Nice clean facilities. To be fair, it seems like they've never remodeled.

You can find the only real Stairmaster at the 13th St. NYHRC at the far corner of the very top floor.

  • Joseph S. on 08/16/13

Undergoing renovations. Only one locker room, which alternates men and women, every other day. Today is men's day.
