Mulberry Street Bar
New York, NY 10013
Village Voice's Description
The century-old Mulberry Street Bar is determined to live forever. As Little Italy continues to shrink down to Littler Italy, the bar flaunts its stamina by blasting '90s house music that can be heard a block away. Inside, beige, knickknack-strewn walls proudly display the joint's proud history of appearing in mob films: Framed photos of stars from The Sopranos, Donnie Brasco, and The Godfather III are scattered throughout. There's even one with a confused Keanu Reeves. Here's a place to have a drink, celebrate your heritage (or someone else's), and feel extraordinarily well protected.
Tips from foursquare
You can't go wrong with $12 pitchers... YOU READ THIS RIGHT 12 DOLLAR PITCHERS!
They have a universal cell phone charger behind the bar! If you just drained your battery checking in, give it to them for a recharge!
Don't forget to tip your bartenders! The drinks are already cheaper than any place else in the neighborhood, what's a few bucks for a tip?
Don't forget Thursday Night is Ladies Night!
Established 1908 as Mare Chiaro. Decor is largely intact - wooden back bar with mirrors, tile floor, and pressed tin along the ceiling and walls - but polluted with flat screens and other updates.
