Village Voice's Description
The East Village loves the hip mom-and-pop MUD, and vice versa. You can load up on their strong classic brew at the original orange trucks at Astor Place, Union Square, and Wall Street, or sip it from handmade ceramic mugs at their tiny, j'adorable cafA(c), which also features noshes, wine, and beer. Just don't open a stand at the airport, guys.
Tips from foursquare
Order a mug of straight up Mud coffee. Brunch here is actually very tasty, but sit on the back patio if you can or you'll smell like a kitchen for the remainder of the day.
To me, there is nothing better than drinking a coffee on a weekend morning at the Mudspot.
can't get enough of the avocado panini on sourdough, w/ home fries on the side, and of course, a cup of mud.
Go all the way to the back, the very back to find an enclosed garden that feels great in winter or summer. And order the rosemary chicken sandwich. Yes they have more than good coffee here.
Make time for MUD! Seek out the bright orange MUD truck (often at Astor Place) or the funky, cramped cafe on E. 9, and get yourself a cuppa joe that's got street cred, baby.
