Village Voice's Description

Manhattanas oldest house played home and headquarters to George Washington in 1776. Its colonial facade is reminiscent of Savannah, and for those phobic of all states south of the Mason-Dixon Line, this is a safe way to encounter Southern architecture. The most famous resident was Aaron Burr, who married his wife here in the parlor in 1833. Itas only up the A line into Washington Heights, so itas too close for any other excuses. It is rumored to be haunted by Eliza Jumel.

Hours: Wed-Sun 10am-4pm, except major holidays.
