Description

Village Voice's Description

Monument Lane indulges almost every major food fad of the moment. Gourmet comfort fare--check. Artisanal cocktails--you betcha. Complimentary house-made sparkling water--yep. A colonial motif, complete with pull-chain toilet in the bathroom--obviously. Begin with the lemon-scented ricotta and the fried fluke fingers, then tuck into a hearty portion of the Quebecois staple, poutine. Hand-cut spuds nuzzle with cheddar nuggets and red-wine-braised short ribs, all glossed with a brawny gravy. Listed as a side, it could easily be dinner. And honestly, it's tastier than most entrées here.

Step off the busy streets and into a laid back atmosphere. Within seconds you’ll be seated and devouring a whole-wheat pretzel with melted Gouda – it’s delicious.

Fun fact: In 1762, a monument honoring General James Wolfe, who died in the pre-Revolutionary Battle of Quebec, was erected in the vicinity; thereafter, the street was referred to as Monument Lane.

If you're into peanut butter + chocolate, order their "Peanut Butter Cup." Might be the best iteration of that flavor combination that I've ever had.

  • Kevin P. on 10/16/12

Every Monday it's $15 for a burger and glass of wine (or craft beer) at the bar. Great burger, and booze selection is top-notch.

  • BULLDOG Gin on 05/07/12

Mix it up a bit. Try out a BULLDOG and tonic and let that adventurous spirit roam free.
