Description

Village Voice's Description

The David Chang empire expands with this sleek bakery, which cooks up ludicrously delicious pastries, ice cream, savory breads and sandwiches. You might be tired of hearing about every move chef David Chang makes, but you can't deny the addictive, almost witchy allure of baked goods like kimchi foccacia, English muffin with tempura-fried egg and pork belly, or a crusty bun filled with potato gratin, gruyere cheese and bacon. And that's just on the savory side. Sweets include the best soft serve ice cream we've ever had (salty pistachio-caramel), assorted cookies (try the corn or snickerdoodle) and crack pie, which contains no actual narcotics but might as well.

Tips from foursquare

Everyone has to try the Compost Cookie (a standardchocolate chip with potato chips and other unexpected crunchy things) atleast once. Trust us, it's a salty-sweet revelation!

  • The New York Times on 05/06/10

Recommended: Cereal-milk soft-serve ice cream, chocolate-chocolate cookie, candy-bar pie, chocolate cake with yellow-cake icing, banana cake with hazelnut crunch, Chinese-sausage focaccia.

  • The Corcoran Group on 09/13/10

Wash down some “Crack Pie” with a “Fancy Milkshake” – we recommend the Cereal Milk White Russian!

  • The Corcoran Group on 08/27/10

You must try the Crack Pie, the Compost Cookie and the Corn Cookie. The Pork Buns are a must try as well.

  • Madelyne D. on 04/05/10

    Two words: Crack. Pie.
