Village Voice's Description
Based in residential Ditmas Park on an unusually busy stretch of Cortelyou Road, the Middle Eastern Mimiâs Hummus is small and airily lit, with big panes of glass in the windows and geometric patterns in wood on the walls. Itâs reasonably priced, too, and serves up numerous riffs on its creamy namesake hummus: meat, mushroom, fava bean. Itâs easy to make a meal out of a bowl of smooth chickpeas and a pile of blistery homemade pita, but the whole menu at Mimiâs is worth exploring, from the shakshuka to the eggplant caviar, plus daily specials. Open for all three meals, plus brunch on weekends, Mimiâs also offers wine and beer, and has earned the affection of the neighborhood and the feel of a local spot. And if you want to take that feeling home, next door is Market, a high-end grocery store co-owned by one of the partners at Mimiâs, and filled with little treats. --Diana Clarke
Tips from foursquare
Far and away the best hummus in NYC; try it with ground beef on top (trust us). And don't miss their excellent vegetable side dishes, either.
Mimi's sandwich is truly amazing!!!
Most things here are delightful, and the cauliflower is one of them.
Everything is made fresh, so ask what's the special for the evening.
For brunch get Mimi's open faced sandwich with labne roasted pepper and sautéed eggplant -- it's the sh*t. Shakshouka pretty solid too.
