Village Voice's Description

This Turkish lunch counter with Uzbek influences makes one amazing sandwich. Deploying a round, thick, seeded flatbread called lapeshka ("home bread" on the menu), the meat wrangler heaps on both lamb and chicken doner kebab (a/k/a gyro), then loads on lettuce, tomato, and purple onions. Finally, he pours on red-hot sauce and white yogurt sauce. Yum! Other formidable offerings include a pilaki salad with tiny tender white beans and green onions in a tart dressing, and adana kebab, a flame-grilled undulating cylinder of coarsely chopped meat laced with onions and chiles.

The lamb gyro on home bread. Make it happen for yourself.

One of the best Turkish restaurants in New York City. Try the Shepherd Salad, the Lamb Gyro, the Chicken Kebab or the Special Memo Shish kebob.
