Village Voice's Description

As the other theme restaurants drop like obsolescent dinosaurs, up springs a new one promising gourmet food and a free carnival ride. Mars 2112 delivers on the ride, at least-a four-and-a-half-minute jouncing in a spacecraft that deposits you on the red planet. Disgorged into cavelike rooms with strolling Martians and flickering video screens, my adolescent crew tasted pizza ruined with honey-mustard chicken, dry chicken fingers, and surprisingly decent (though skimpy) beef satays. My hamburger, ordered medium, was burned to a cinder in the thin atmosphere. Enjoy the ambience, skip the nausea-inducing space trip, and stick with the pastas.

Tips from foursquare

  • Cheapism on 02/25/11

Make a landing on this kitschy Midtown spot for one of NYC’s cheapest happy hour deals. Wednesday – Friday, 5 – 7pm. Try a Marstini for <$6.

must must MUST do. order a "marstini" and chat up your martian waiters, they don't break character (plus they do a dance every hour). make sure to take the ride to "mars."

  • Cody W. on 08/10/10

This place is pretty ridiculous. Overpriced, mediocre food. Fun, but very cheesy decor. Good for a single visit, but don't go back.
