New York, NY 10002
Village Voice's Description
Local 138 proves that you only need one item to open a bar: a physical, wooden bar. Nothing special, really, just a plank of wood that separates the bartender and the crowd, and leaves space for some beers to rest in the middle. This spot's boldest decorations include thick turbine fans, golden bronze paint, and two box TVs; it's neither a dirty rock 'n' roll dive nor a tchotchke-laden sports bar, but it ain't pretty, either. Natives and nomads come here precisely for that reason, refueling during the generous 5-to-9 happy hour before reemerging into the night.
Tips from foursquare
try the arrogant bastard... try 6 of them...
$3 Arrogant Bastards during happy hour. Get involved!
happy hour until 9pm is one of the longest and best in the city.
Don't forget I'm the mayor, and enjoy the $3 drafts happy hour 4 to 9
This place’s happy hour laughs in the face of the word “hour”—it runs from 4 to 9 p.m. Beers are $3 (and PBR is $2), one of the best bargains in New York City. Can’t beat that.
