Village Voice's Description
A dive among dives, Lady Jay's in northern Williamsburg is hard not to like. Soft lighting, a jukebox full of country music, and a spacious patio make this bar a regular neighborhood haunt (especially in the summertime). The cool but laid-back crowd that frequents Lady Jay's keeps the place feeling hip but also welcoming. Depending on what night you stop by, you'll be greeted by either a DJ, live band, or the crowd-pleasing jukebox playing country, rockabilly, and folk. Replete with value beers and beer-and-shot specials, Lady Jay's is a low-key bargain. --Gabriel Herrera
Tips from foursquare
LJ's is a neighborhood hang dedicated to no-frills, straight-ahead boozin with a vintage Shuffle Bowling machine and a dimly-lit bar made from reclaimed 100-yr-old Virginian wood.
They have a beer shot combo deal, only the shot is Moonshine! Needless to say, get it! Awesome jukebox too. My favorite bar in the hood.
Get two-for-$5 cans of Lionshead. Hang with Sam, Miles, Kahlen, Troy and everyone. They're some of the coolest, most down-to-earth people you'll meet on Grand Street.
home to FORlokals: A Grand St. Happy Hour. $2-$5 drink deals. 6-10pm. 2/16/11. Drew stirs the sauce.
Winner of Best Smoking Patio in the Village Voice 2011 Best Of issue! Head outside in the summer months to chat and light up.
