Village Voice's Description

Like most successful food endeavors, L’Arte Del Gelato started out as a labor of love, but with a love for classic Italian gelato. With techniques gathered from artisans in Italy and high-quality ingredients from both local and international sources, L’Arte Del Gelato in Chelsea Market serves up unusually creamy gelato and sorbet in a rotating, seasonal cast of flavors available as standalone scoops, sundaes, and gelato sandwiches. The Chelsea Market location is always crowded, and lines form fast, so it’s not the most romantic or relaxing place for a scoop of gelato, but the taste is usually worth it. The flavors are particularly pungent, too: Typically faint ice cream flavors like pear or green apple have a satisfying bite, and every once in a while an unorthodox flavor such as olive oil pops up, so its worth making the trip at least several times a year. --Shane Barnes

The West Village is full of gelati, but his is my fave--the flavors are always changing and it's only half a block from my restaurant, Annisa. -Anita Lo, Top Chef Masters

Freshly made gelati and sorbetti are invariably creamy and smooth, and their seasonal menu offers a wide variety of flavors. Don’t miss their intensely nutty pistachio gelato.

L'Arte del Gelato is an excellent gelateria; their rich pistachio gelato is a must-try, and don't miss out on their vibrant sorbets.

I always go for their gelato of the month. It never disappoints. But, I'll always have a special place in my heart for their hazelnut flavor. Mmmm.

Fresh, locally made, artisanal gelato. The pistachio is outstanding, made with nuts imported from Bronte, Sicily. Many other good flavors, some unusual like olive oil.
