Village Voice's Description

This tiny Indian joint isn't much to look at; order at the counter in the back, where a lone employee stands under an illuminated and illustrated menu. Sit at one of the handful of wooden tables, surrounded by red ceramic tiles and a large photo of a temple, or get your food to go. The food mostly hails from northern India and is heads and shoulders above what you would normally expect from a cramped Indian take-out joint. Choose from a long menu including dishes such as chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, chana saag (chickpeas cooked with spinach), spicy shrimp vindaloo and more, all priced at or under the $10 mark. The dinner special includes one appetizer, entrée, naan bread and basmati rice for $13. Food is made to order instead of dished out of warming trays, so expect a short wait. The atmosphere is pretty bare bones, meaning most customers order take-out or delivery (minimum $10 order).—Keith Wagstaff
