Description

Village Voice's Description

The famous yellow lean-to known as Willie's Burgers has been transformed into a gleaming metal-clad shed that looks positively bombproof. The structure seems perennially closed, but just to the east Jumbo Hamburgers has moved into the storefront, flipping the standard half-steamed, half-fried giant Harlem burger, made with fresh meat with plenty of fat that cooks down into a moist diffuse lump, shaped by the poking and prodding of the cook so a depression forms in the middle. You're making a big mistake if you don't heap on the fried onions, cheese, bacon, and anything else that strikes your fancy. Fries are completely forgettable-the regulars never order 'em.

Tips from foursquare

  • Charles B. on 01/10/10

Though it doesn't say so in the menu, they have healthy breakfast options like whole wheat French toast and scrambles egg whites.

  • Ms. Dee B. on 04/17/10

They close at 7 pm now but the burger stand at the corner (no longer) owned by them stays open later.

  • Andy on 02/12/10

Not a bad burger when lazy. Don't let them overcook it

  • Saroya F. on 03/26/14

Good service and a varied menu for those who like all the fixins or have dietary restrictions and preferences. You can sit at the counter or grab a table.

  • Shawanda on 10/26/13

    Great food love jumbo
