Jack's 99 Cent Store
New York, NY 10001
- Sun 10am-6:30pm, Mon-Fri 7:30am-7:30pm, Sat 10am-7:30pm
Village Voice's Description
The neon sign outside Jack's may flash "99 cents," but in fact only the first floor of this mart has items for a buck; upstairs, where it's called Jack's World, tariffs are higher. Still, they're nothing to complain about: During a rapid sweep (you try it and see how long you can stand hanging out in any one of these places) we turn up a velveteen dreidel, plush but spinnable, for only $1.99; surprisingly fashionable picture frames, encrusted with pearls to give them a Chanel-ish air, are $5.99.
Tips from foursquare
Winner of Best 99-Cent Store in the Village Voice 2011 Best Of issue! Knock-off household products work just as well and are usually under $1.
best deals in Manhattan period!
Don't expect a quick trip in and out. These cashiers are the slowest (and meanest) people alive!
People in line taking a trillion n one years to search for exact change will make u want to stab someone in the base of the neck with... Idk... something sharp.
The food items on the 1st floor change daily and you can get some amazing deals. Don't come here if you're having a bad day, it's always full of very pushy people and there are long lines to cash out.
