FreeBird Books & Goods

Map & Directions 123 Columbia St.
Brooklyn, NY 11231
  • Sun, Sat 11am-8pm

Village Voice's Description

Even though FreeBird is small (making temporary book re-appropriation extremely obvious), the store encourages lingering. Surrounded on either side by about four blocks of Red Hook nothingness, the shop has two old fireside chairs, a dining room table and a mini bar of beer and wine. Although most of the books are used, one shelf is reserved for small Brooklyn presses like Soft Skull, Better Non Sequitur and Litmus.

Freebird Books & Goods has a beautiful backyard where you can read and pretend you’re on vacation. Read more on MetroFocus and discover other city bookstores worth a visit.

One of the best used book selections in Brooklyn.... And they serve Moxie.

If the humor of this little bookstore's categorization doesn't impress you, there's a coffee shop in the back where you can mull over your sense of humor. :)

I love this little Red Hook nook. It's pretty perfect.
