Finally, a Pueblan taqueria that nearly rises to the level of full-blown restaurant! One of a chain for three formidable places in the Bronx that have been around since the late 1990s, Estrellita Poblano ("Little Star of Puebla") does right by the cuisine's signatures, including chiles relleno made with scintillating fresh peppers in a spongy egg batter, and a mole poblano that tastes like it hasn't been malingering in cans or bottles. The tacos are fab, too, and don't pull punches when it comes to the variety meats beloved of Pueblans; tongue is great, and so is the gooey headcheese known simply as cabeza. Other recommendations include the tangy cemita sandwiches and any of the quesos fundido - the Mexican answer to French fondue.

    One of the best mole poblanos in town, so thick and rich, sending up grace notes of nut & cinnamon as it engulfs your chicken enchiladas. The chiles rellenos are oozing buckets of stringy white cheese

    Sweet Jesus. I'm from California and HAVE NOT found a more delicious or authentic place Mexican place as this in five years. Love the lengua and cecina tacos. The horchata is on point!
