Village Voice's Description
If there was ever going to be a quintessential Irish pub in New York, many would argue that the Emerald Inn is it. For a startaitas owned and operated by the same (Irish) people who owned and operated it from the beginning in 1943 and as a result the charm and attention to heart-felt detail is still evident.
Tips from foursquare
Best spot in the city. Had some of the most amazingly random nights here. John and Carmel are like family. Love coming here
Get here soon, after 60+ years they've lost their lease. (F U to the Kate Spade shop moving in)
This bar can be the best late night bar in NYC.
The Emerald is closing at the end of April to become a Kate Spade store. Drink up in the last pub in the neighborhood before it is too late!
An unpretentious and old-school neighborhood bar when everyone is treated like a regular. Aside from the beer, the food is awesome – try the burger or the meatloaf (when available).
