Village Voice's Description

Chef/owners Eder Montero and Alex Raij prove that size doesn't matter with this stellar Chelsea tapas spot. Calling it small doesn't really doesn't do it justice; inside, a thick, curved marble bar provides most of the seating, with a barstool-lined narrow counter providing the only other place to set down your small plates. High ceilings, patterned wallpaper and tasteful chandeliers give the place a sophisticated feel, which explains why you'll probably see so many people on dates here. The uni Panini, which pairs warm, creamy sea urchin with a crisp baguette, is an absolute stroke of genius. A few more examples of Raij's skill: a Sevillian stew of braised chickpeas and spinach, shrimp cooked with garlic, jalapeno and ginger, saffron-scented chicken wings. Pair your small plates with one of the Spanish wines from the carefully selected rotating wine list or opt for one of the specialty cocktails.—Keith Wagstaff

Get the fried lamb intestines-fried so finely that they've curled and buckled in the heat, becoming golden brown & crisp. They taste like lamb potato chips-dip them in the tart chile sauce on the side

Recover from long Fashion Week days at the tiny, laid-back Spanish wine bar. Ditch industry types, try its famous uni panini, and nightcap with one of your real friends.

  • The uni panini here is one of the most exhilarating sandwiches ever invented—domestic sea urchin spread in a baguette with Korean hot mustard oil.

  • Cooking Channel on 02/23/11

The uni panini is something completely on its own: creamy sea urchin, heat from the mustard oil … a small sandwich made me feel like I was getting so much. - Jeffrey Saad, United Tastes of America

New dishes include dirty rice with rabbit, flash-fried shell-on shrimp, and soft scrambled eggs with sea anemone. Favorites from the old menu are still available, and they plan to serve lunch soon.
