Village Voice's Description

Stick-to-your-ribs platters of Ecuadoran food are the forte of this former diner El Patio on busy Northern Boulevard, which reminds us of Los Angeles. Goat stew (seco de chivo) is a good bet, and so is the intensely yellow tripe stew (guatita). You can get both with a serving of oniony shrimp ceviche on the omnibus platter, which resembles the national flag, called bandera ecuatoriana, offered with copious sides. The most recommended platter, though, features the moist and salty pork roast known as hornado.
