Description

Village Voice's Description

Those sick of the neighborhood frat bars should visit Dead Poet, where pictures of late, great writers hang from the walls beside their inspiring words. Order up a cheap happy-hour beer, and pretend to leaf through the books in the back room, when really you're trying to check out/impress the Betty nearby. Think about that movie Dead Poets Society

, and how you cried when that hot guy killed himself. Had enough poetry? Opt instead for a game of pool to accompany your next pint.

Tips from foursquare

Best little pub on the Upper West Side. Best Guinness in NYC and with 17 other brews on the cleanest taps around. Good eats too. Great staff, locals + worldly travelers = for fun days and nights.

Get to Dead Poet ASAP(Fridays)! They have a mean special poppin' for checking in with Four Square!!

The Guinness pour is great, the bartenders friendly, and the music is cool. My favorite local pub on the Upper West Side!

Wile away many a weeknight sipping some of the best-poured Guinness in the city (complete with shamrock) to get your name on the Guinness 100 Club wall.

  • The Corcoran Group on 11/14/11

Best little pub to catch whatever game is on TV (they’ll gladly change the channel for you) while enjoying a perfect Guinness with a surprisingly delicious Buffalo Chicken Sandwich.
