Cowgirl Sea Horse
New York, NY 10038
Village Voice's Description
If you love your food fried, fried, and then fried some more, you"ll love Cowgirl Sea-Horse, the Seaport offshoot of the West Village"s beloved Cowgirl Hall of Fame (known to us as Call Girl Howl of Shame). The menu borrows heavily from its fellow hipster theme restaurants of the 1980s, including a wonderful coconut shrimp appetizer from Sugar Reef, nachos from Tortilla Flats, and fried chicken from the mothership, Cowgirl. The mixed drinks are strong and sugary, as you might expect, and the surprise treat of the house is the "ice cream baked potato"--we"re not going to let the cat out of the bag here, you"ll have to try it for yourself.
Tips from foursquare
The coconut shrimp appetizer are battered with a thick liquid containing sweet baker's coconut and deep fried until golden brown, with a mango dipping sauce with a bit of heat. Delicious!
Great blackened fish tacos and ribs. Solid neighborhood place with good vibe and great prices.
Try the refreshing $5 margaritas during happy hour – with their chips and salsa. The music is a little loud for conversation, so probably not a good first date restaurant.
All the drinks come with toys!
Get the frozen margaritas - individual in mason jars. Not sure why, but much better than the pitchers.
